An eventful week just went down in Z-grad... Where do I even begin?? Well I don't have time to write down everything so I will write the highlights:) Um first off I had the opportunity to serve in Moscow for the day which was pretty exciting haha. Kinda weird? But my comp had her visa trip so I was paired up with my MTC companion, Sister Noorda!! It was so weird to me to be serving with her out in the field.. but she was awesome and I'm not going to like I was a little nervous because we both are fairly new.. but we kidded butt!! We got some work done:) On Saturday we had the opportunity to do a service project with our ward. We went and picked up trash in the forest. I'm pretty sure it was more of a scavenger hunt though... We found bags, record player, tea pots, curling iron??? The most random stuff haha but I think all the youth was really enjoying it, so that was really fun:) The best thing that happened this week though is a lesson we had with this 90 year old woman in our ward.. She is the sweetest lady. Every Sunday she'll come up to us and just start talking to us about the most random stuff:) But she makes me smile every time:) When we got over to her house we began our lesson we planned on teaching her. She told us she wanted to sing a hymn first so we pulled out the hymn books and she comes walking in with a guitar. Pretty soon she's playing the guitar and singing Nearer my god to thee. I had the biggest smile on my face:) It was so awesome to see a 90 year old playing the guitar!! :) We had an awesome time with her that day. I think it meant a lot to her that someone finally took the time to meet with her. Well I also want to mention something that I learned this week.. I came across a scripture that talked about the Grace of Jesus Christ. And after reading that I was thinking, What does that even mean? So I looked it up in the bible dictionary and read what it said. These were the things that stuck out to me, " Grace: Is divine means of help or strength given through the bountenous mercy and love of Jesus Christ. It is like wise through the grace of the Lord that individuals, through faith in the Atonement of Jesus Christ and repentance of sins, receive strength and assistance to do good works that they otherwise would not be able to maintain if left to their own means." I then turned to Philips 4:13 and it talked about through Christ we receive strength (also in Alma 26:12) I began to think about how the atonement not only helps us when we sin, but also builds us up when we are weak. Then I was just flipping through the ipod looking at different talks to listen to as I was getting ready for the day and I turned to this one from David Bednar called " In the Strength of the Lord." It was exactly what I had been studying the previous days and what I needed to hear. He talked about different stories told in the BoM and how everyone of them went through a really hard trial, way worse then what we missionaries face everyday, but yet when they prayed to god they didn't ask for their circumstance to be changed, but for them to have strength to over come their circumstance. I never thought about it that way. Yano you always pray that things will change or things will pass, but did you ever think to pray for the strength to take on the challenge rather then complaining and asking Heavenly Father to take it away. That's what we as missionaries strive for every day. To receive strength to take on every day. Because as you know a mission is not easy... But through the grace of Jesus Christ we can receive that strength:) Anywho theres a little thought for you:) But love you all! have a great week!!
