Staying Put... Week #53

Well I've got some news.. not really.. but I'm staying in Voronezh!! Well I've course I am I have to raise my baby so she's strong and healthy!! Haha:) Man this week has been great!! Heavenly Father really put miracles in our laps. This week we had the opportunity to just help and serve a lot of people that are struggling. Which I guess that's what missionary work is all about right:) I must say I ate some stuff I have no clue what it was.. I've been ice skating all over the place because everything is complete ice.. but hey life is good:)

This week I want to share with you a talk I guess you would say that I absolutely love!! It's helped me sooo much and I don't know maybe it will help you? So when you read the verse Matthew 6:11 it reads, "Give us this day our daily bread." Which I think that it's meaning each day we want or need our heavenly fathers help. For some of us it may literally be bread, to help us service from hunger, but for most of us it may be spiritual strength to help us get through our challenges. Jesus taught that we should look to god each day for the bread- that help and sustenance- we require in that particular day. He is inviting us to seek for our daily bread from our loving heavenly father who is aware of every single thing we do and is anxious in assisting each of us. But as we do so we learn more about our savior and our Heavenly Father. As I began thinking about this I had a random thought about dad.. haha so I'm not sure when, but when dad spoke at a fireside he talked about the Baja 1000 race. And I thought about that race and how dad was doing it all on his own without a team. It was him and his bike. But then I thought about how during the race they give you opportunities to take like a "pit stop?" Or a break, so they can fix your bike, you can eat or do whatever you need to do, and then you were off again for a couple hundred miles or so. (sorry dad if I'm not explaining this right:)) But I was thinking about what the race would be like without those "stops" or those "breaks" Can you imagine how dead you would be or even wonder if you or your bike would have made it to the end?? But the fact that you didn't have to look at this long race, but that you could focus on each stop. So like once you go to one stop then you can focus on what you need to do to get to the next stop. I think that was your "daily bread," so you would say ,to help you make it to the finish line! And even win the race!!! Well I think it's the same with us day by day. We can just think about the end of our lives and not focus on what's going on in front of us. But to take each day at a time and look to god in every thought! And to not doubt for have fear that were not going to make it to the end.

When I first came out on my mission I remember thinking like holy crap I have to do this for 18 months.. shoot me.. But then I had to change my mind set. I couldn't think of my mission as 18 months. I had to focus on that day and what I was doing that day. Especially in the beginning haha I remember when I would wake up I would say ok I can just make it tell tonight. I can do today. And when we do that, when we focus on today the lord helps with each tiny step no matter how small or big they may be. On the mission I've really had no where else to turn but to god. And when I learned that I really came to understand how to pray and what it means to pray. The fact that I was forced to turn to god daily throughout my whole mission I truly learned how to pray and how to receive answers to my prayers. It taught me to have faith in god and my savior. I have learned to trust in the lord with all my heart and by doing so I have learned to walk with him day by day. Sometimes in our life we can only handle one day. We can handle thinking about all the problems we have to deal with or how were going to over come something. So we have to focus on the day by day and focus on the smaller parts to deal with big things. So my question to you is can you do today?? Focus on today?? Live today?? And if you can:) Then that's all you have to do!!! We don't live in the past and we don't live in the future! We live now. We live today!!! And by doing so. By receiving your daily bread. You will come to know your Heavenly Father. You will turn to him and let him guide you and receive his help:)
