I gotta say my New Years was a lot more exciting then last year? But not by much haha Crazy to think last year I spent my new years in the MTC..? And Now I'm here in Russia!! So new years eve we had the opportunity to go to our Senior Couples house for Christmas/ New Years lunch. Then we had District meeting which is always good. Our senior couple here is Russian and the wife is like a health nut! So the food she made was all this weird healthy russian food? haha it was good, but different!! It was funny because all the missionaries brought dessert so it went from really healthy to really not..? But anyways yeah that was basically all we did that day because at 6 we had to be home. It was nuts walking home because people were just walking around with alcohol bottles already drunk and ready to party. When we got inside we couldn't really do anything so I decided to write down goals for this year and a note to myself to open up for the next year. I'm not going to lie I was freaking out making goals for the mission because I was like What the heck I am not here for very much longer???? And yet there is still so much I need to do!!! But I was able to figure out things I need to do and the person I want to be when I get home.
It's been so weird because these past couples days I've been reading my journal from the MTC... I can't even explain to you how far I've come. But there is advice that I wrote in there for myself that I really needed to hear. This past year I've learned so much!! To the point where it has changed my life forever. It's incredible to see what the lord can do with you in a Year!! and to think about all the experiences all the people all the hard and the good times I've had here in Russia. And a year ago I knew absolutely nothing.. but hey that's how it should be right because now I've grown and I've learned soooo much!! I've been studying the spirit this week actually!! I think that's on of the biggest things is following the spirit because obviously he know's a lot more then me. So much about praying is listening. We can pray all day long and god is totally willing to listen and to help us, but we have to afterwards be willing to listen for the whisperings of the spirit!! Sounds like everything at home is going good! Family all seems crazy like usual!! haha I have some news.. A less active I worked with a lot in Sokolniki has been preparing to receive her P. Blessing and soon go to the temple!! Also he daughter just got baptized this week!!!!! Which is a COMPLETE miracle. When we first started teaching her she smoked.. she just didn't really believe in anything and she had been taught many times by the missionaries. I was only there for the beginning with her daughter, but it's just way cool to hear she got baptized:) Also do you remember Sister Fehlburg? From the MTC?? She is now my sister training leader which I'm stoked for!! Haha um what else? I have a visa trip next week so I'll be going into Moscow again.. on monday! So that should be fun:)
The one thing that really cool happened this week. It's kind of hard to go into detail about it all.. but We have been teaching this Muslim couple. The other Sisters had taught them once before I came in and they are literally a miracle. Especially because they are Muslim. But it's been really hard to meet with them because they both study and work. They are from Serree and the girl speaks english and the guy speaks Russian.. she doesn't speak russian and he doesn't speak english.. (they communicate through their native language) So teaching them is a whole different experience. Anyways after a long time we finally got to meet with them!!!! It's so cool to hear their story and to know that god truly does prepare people to hear the gospel. Hazom (the guy) has been searching and searching for answers to his questions and then a couple days later he runs into the missionaries and just has this feel ing that he needs to meet with them. Ah so cool!!! I wish I could tell you everything about them.. but anyways fingers crossed!! Well have a great week:) Love you all!! I'll be celebrating another christmas here on January 5th in Russia haha that should be fun:)
So I gotta say I loved your letter haha you guys crack me up:) But everything you said is so true. And what gigi said is way true I think because I have noticed that. The people that are really proud are the ones that are mean. Not always but for the most part. But I am continuing to work on it!! That's been my focus this week is not to get down on myself. It's hard to because even my companion does it. Someone will say something to be and then she attempts with her English to translate.. haha I'm like I understand don't worry;) but it's ok whatever!! I've been studying the spirit this week actually!! I think that's on of the biggest things is following the spirit because obviously he knows a lot more then me. So much about praying is listening. We can pray all day long and god is totally willing to listen and to help us, but we have to afterwards be willing to listen for the whisperings of the spirit!! New years was haha boring but good. Glad you got the pictures from our senior couple. They are Russian and they are Hilarious hahaha but anyways I love you guys. Have so much fun in Park City!! That will be fun:) Maybe I'll catch you maybe I won't, but just know I love ya!!!
