Well I've been debating all morning what to write to you today.. Especially since yesterday I had to sit in my apartment all day because Putin was in town. Then I realized that you don't really know what's going on in my life so I figured I would tell you what's been going on in Voronezh.
To start off, I've learned that my purpose in Voronezh is reactivating members. We are working with a couple people right now who are amazing!! They just need a little support and help to get them back into the church. There is one girl Masha, who is 21 years old. She grew up in the church and when she turned 19 years old she decided she wanted to get married. So she found a guy.. Who wasn't a great guy.. and got married. Well a little ways down the road she got pregnant. The husband turned out to be crazy and so after she had her baby she decided to leave him. She found another guy and ended up getting pregnant again. Which she is due in May. Right now she doesn't talk to her family because they aren't getting along right now. So she's living in like a dorm room I guess you would say with this little boy and then soon to have a baby girl. He life just seems so hard!! She has no support from anyone.. she can't get a job because she has a kid and has no where to put him. It was a big eye opener to me when I met her just realizing how important our choices are in life. We can always choose what we want to do, but never the consequence. Anyways so that's on less active we are working with. There are many more, but her story just kills me haha I just want to fix all her problems but I know that I can't. She's great though and I know the lord will help her, if she's willing to turn towards him.
I don't know if you know this, but as missionaries we are commanded to constantly be talking to people. So just imagine right when you walk out the door you have to be opening your mouth, stopping people on the streets, talking to people on the buses, etc. And I don't know about you, but I'm the type of person who likes to keep to myself. But I know that talking to people is something that President, Prophet and God has told us to do. So we do it:) With a smile on our face. Even when is freezing, snowing, raining, you name it!! I must say Voronezh is the hardest place for me so far to get people to actually stop and talk to us. I don't know what it is, but people will just not listen to us. I can honestly say though that yano it's ok. Just as long as we are showing god that we are doing the best we can he will direct us and bless us. I don't know if you've ever heard of JayDubs but they are everywhere here. Maybe people just think were them;) haha I remember a couple weeks ago we were contacting and we saw two girls contacting as well. I knew right away who they were so as we passed them I stopped them to say hello:) You can tell they felt completely awkward.. but hey I just wanted to be nice and wish them luck!! So weird to think that other religions are starting to do what we do!!
Investigators are doing good!! I don't want to say anything.. because I'm scared I will Jinks it.. so you'll just have to wait and see:) Haha um Also something I learned this week that I want to share is about temples. As you know Voronezh is pretty close to Ukraine. Our branch is full of refugees from Ukraine, which is way cool;) But during fast Sunday everyone was just testifying about the temple. And It made me miss it sooooo much!! Something we don't realize at home is how blessed we are to live right next to temples. These people in Russia have to spend days and a lot of money to go to the temple for one or two days. Then when they come home they begin saving money just so they can go again the next year!! Anyways where I'm coming from is don't use the temple for granted!! Go as much as you can and remember those covenants you've made there. The temple is another world and as members of the church we have the opportunity to be the closes we ever can be to god:) Haha anyways I love you all sorry my letters really random! Have a great week:)
Mom!
Wow what a crazy letter!! First off I'm so grateful to know gram is ok. What a scary experience but so cool to know that meg was there and saved them!!! yesterday was fun haha sitting in the apartment all day;) Kinda nice to just take a break though. I don't really know why he was there.. the elders just told us we had to stay inside.. This week was good though. We got a new investigator so fingers crossed that she is really interested!! her name is Galiena? I don't know how to spell it in english haha but yeah. I'm praying that she is the one!!!! The muslim couple has been hard to meet with still.. but we will do the best we can!! That's way cool about dad and chan going to africa!! I'll have to think about it this week? But I don't know haha that would be cool but also scary with everything that's going around. We've been getting a lot of anti stuff here too. People are putting videos up about missionaries and so russians are all against us. I swear everyone on the street when we talk to them know exactly who we are and don't want anything to do with us. It's really hard contacting here? But that's ok:) It's crazy how much satan is working on the church. But I like what Pres. Divissor said because it's so true!! Um as for cabo or powell?? That's really hard! They both sound amazing!! How about he chooses?? Haha What do you think?? Don't worry about that package though no worries:) Anyways how are you doing??
