Well I think I'm going to start off by saying this has been the longest week of my life. But in a good way... I think? Well I'm going to tell you about my first day in Moscow... It actually was really good!! Woke up, had a bunch of meetings with President Borders who is super cool! I like him a lot!! It's so funny because all the missionaries know who I am. There like are you Godfrey's daughter?? Haha President Borders asked me about it, the AP's were telling me how everyone was saying how excited they were to see the show and then they got shut down.. Felt bad but haha what can you do?
Anyways first day so after our meetings we go contacting.. AHH haha I was pumped though. I've been waiting for this moment for 2 months;) haha so we get on the metro and the first person I see I started talking to. Yeah he had no idea what I was saying.. But one of the Sister training leaders came and helped me. He was really nice, but I guess the whole time he was fighting with her about the Book of Mormon. And then at then end he wanted me to go home with him.. he literally grabbed my arm and sister Tolper was like no no no haha super funny, but hey I was just happy I talked to someone:) We went to red square and took some pictures. Then off we were on the streets contacting. The first guy we talked to took a B of M which was awesome. Everyone else ignored us.. but hey that's all good! We went to the stake center to meet our trainers and have a meeting! Well my trainers name is Sister Rebentish. She is AWESOME!! She is from Boston and has been here for only 3 months. But her first companion was native so she's killing it at the language. Well after that we got my bags and headed to my area. I'm in a place called Zelenograde, which is about and hour outside of Moscow. So far I really like it! We have our own church building and everything. My apartment is super nice which is surprising haha right when we got there we dropped my bags off and headed to English Group. I really enjoyed it! I was a little jet lagged, but I met this girl named Dasha. She is so cool!! She had never really been interested in the church and that night I got her to meet with us:) She's going to Europe though for a little while and doesn't come home tell Feb. 9! But I was super excited!!
I've never been so cold in my entire life. I probably wear about 3 layers on my legs and 4 layers on top. You can't really cover your face, so it gets to the point where it's just completely numb.. But I'm honestly used to it. Haha completely different though then Utah. Um we've been teaching this girl named Rafena. She's in her 20's and she is incredible. But apparently before I got here she was not interested and had not been improving at all. She had been investigating the church for awhile, but ever since I got here her heart has been changing and she's become more interested. Which is soo cool!! We meet with her a lot. I think she really enjoys being around us so that's awesome:)
Ok every Saturday they have sports day haha funnest thing ever!! Right next to the church is a field and all the youth from the church come and we play a game called Gator Ball. It is basically like Soccer but you use your hands as well. Way better then soccer in my opinion, but yeah that was really fun.
Well my first Sunday... I will say it went pretty good! I mean I couldn't really talk to anyone, but I smiled and acted like I knew what people were saying:) I had to talk during sacrament. Just like bear my testimony and I think it went pretty good. Not sure, everyone said I did so that's a good sign right? Um Rafena showed up which was so awesome. We had a lesson with her after church and the spirit was incredibly strong! Holy cow! Loved it! The coolest thing though that happened that day though was... Well when we got home after church I was struggling. I think Sunday was my hardest day just because I want to talk to everyone and get to know everyone, but I can't speak or understand anything. And then every time we got on the bus or something I go to talk to someone and they completely ignore me. I don't think I've been ignored so much in my life. But it's whatever. Love them anyways. So yeah I was just struggling and I prayed and ask HF for strength because we were about to go back out contacting which I didn't want to do. So we go out and talk to people on the buses. Then I said hey do you care if we walk on the Streets and contact. So we did. Long story short were walking and I got to talk to this girl and guess what she spoke English!! I was soooo Happy haha. She is from the Philippines and is living here by herself. Doesn't know anyone and doesn't speak any Russian. I asked her if she knows about the Mormons and she was like yeah I have a couple friends that are Mormon!?? What???? Haha so she asked if she could meet with us:) we didn't even have to ask her. Gosh god works in crazy ways... But yeah that was my week. I mostly just contacted and got ignored to and yelled at, but hey it's all good!
Love you all! Have a great week. :)
Hello Mum and DAD!!
Holy Cow this week has been insane. I can't even explain all the emotions I am feeling right now. I really struggled yesterday, but got sent me a miracle so I'm doing pretty good today:) How are things going? It's freezing cold here I'll tell you that. I get home and keep all my layers on because I'm still way cold. Dad everyone is obsessed with you haha I feel pretty cool to say your my dad;) Um also I can't send pictures.. Really sucks, but my comp said she had her dad made a drop box or something and I guess you can send pictures though that. So maybe create one so I can send Pictures home:) Umm other then that things are good. Just trying to do my very best. Everyday I wake up and asking myself what I'm doing here. But I know it will get better. Just need to be patient. But I love you both. Hope things are going good at home. Dad I didn't get an email from you so I don't know what your talking about;) anyways love you!! BYE
